About the Author
Colin Burke was born in Wallasey on Merseyside but for forty years has lived in Manchester. In the 1970s he was seduced away from a fledgling academic career to embark on a life in business administration, where he has been ever since. This is his first foray into the world of fiction writing.

A dog's conversation...

This is an especially cute story done in the form of letters from one border terrier pup to another. Stanley is so excited to find another pup in his breed in the park, he sends her letters to stay in touch. They sound just like they've been written by a dog, too!

This man has obviously owned dogs. Anyone who has a pet will recognize the uniqueness of their animals. Each one is different, even siblings from the same family. (Kind of like family, isn't it?) They all have attributes that make you smile and a few that irritate you.
This pretty puppy finds his owner's sock and the man is happy to see it because it was lost. When he finds socks that aren't missing, the man is not so happy. I love that it is written from the puppy's point-of-view. He's not sure why the man gets so excited about some things. After all, he did it before and it was OK, what's wrong now?
You get to go for walks with him. You see how deserted he feels when he's left with a sitter while they go on vacation. He tells you how they go out to have a drink and leave him home. He always welcomes them home enthusiastically, even if they weren't gone long. He also tells you about his vet visits and the dog behavior people who attempt to train him.
If you enjoy animals, you'll enjoy this read. It's different, is filled with humor and makes you smile. To me, that's a keeper.

Fun, Quirky, read

Dear Clementina by Colin Burke
The story is uniquely written from the point of view of a border terrier, Stanley, writing to another dog, Clementina.
We follow Stanley for the first year of his life, from the time he is a pup, meeting his new owners, learning the rules of his new house, to being left with strangers while his owners go on holidays.
The story follows him as he grows older and meets other dogs, makes and has fantastic experiences.
He writes to Clementina often, telling her of the wonderful places he goes on holidays and the things he learns from other dogs. He tells her of his trips to the vets and about his lively owners.
Through Stanley we hear about the adventures of other dogs that he meets as the tell him stories about their lives.
The book ends around Stanley's first birthday and I enjoyed reading about the fuss they made of him.
I loved this quirky, fun little book, it made me smile and giggle all the way through. Recommend to all who live a fun, light read and to all of the dog lovers out there.

I would highly recommend this book to any reader

A puppy's first year of life told by the mischievous puppy himself is chronicled in the clever format of a letter to one of his closest canine pals. This "first-puppy perspective" makes for a whimsical view on the new and often misinterpreted ways of the world and how we humans live our lives. I found myself chuckling quite often at Stanley's behavior, observations, and approach to everyday situations and felt compelled to share some of his more humorous antics with my husband. I would highly recommend this book to any reader, but especially to other dog lovers. It is a fun and touching book that everyone will enjoy!
