This book contians 159 designs from Azerbaijan, a republic of the Soviet Union that borders on Iran, where native rug weavers have been using these motifs for hundreds of years. These strong, traditional designs (an interesting blend of Persian, Caucausian, Turkish & Central Asian carpet designs) will appeal to needleworkers, weavers, and other craftspeople.

The designs include stylized birds, human figures, animals, flowers, fruits, abstract scrolls and curves, and numerous geometric forms -- steps, right angles, squares, hexagons, L-shaped figures, parallelograms, and many others. All the designs were gathered by native scholar Lyatif Kerimov.

Every design is printed on a chart, where one square represents one stitch, making each design extremely useful for needlepoint, cross-stitch embroidery, rug hooking, and many other forms of needlework. And because you adapt the design yourself, rather than work from an already established kit, you can make the pattern almost any size you desire.

I love to browse this book along with author Lyatif Kerimov's other Dover book:

Folk Designs from the Caucasus for Weaving and Needlework

Both are nice books to have if you enjoy Persian carpets or designs from different cultures. Unfortunately, like many Dover books from the 1970's, there aren't as many color photos of finished pieces as we'd like...but then these books are still extremely inexpensive.

I recommend you get other books to explain what the various designs symbolize and to get suggestions for color combinations. I highly recommend the following book as a companion to this:

Needlepoint Designs from Oriental Rugs

I made the cover carpet using pearl cotton #8 on 16-count aida fabric. Great coverage so using just one strand in the needle made threading needles a breeze; plus, the design calls for only FIVE COLORS so it really works up fast...for the most part.

THIS BOOK MAKES EVIDENCE SO EXCITING TO LEARN!!!

I love the examples provided in each chapter that offer real cases and fictitious hypothotheticals to further explain the nuances of each rule. The pace of each chapter allows you to really understand the rule before moving on to another chapter, which is very important when trying to understand how all the rules fit together. More importantly, this book has an online supplement, which includes video explanations, practice multiple-choice questions and self assessments, and allows you to email the authors if you have questions. This book is wonderful.

Best case book, by far, that I had in law school.

Instead of wasting time with stupid minutiae of mostly overturned English cases, this book focuses on the rules of Evidence, and how they apply. No-nonsense, this book will teach you evidence. It's so good, I would recommend it even if your class uses a different book.I can't think of any other casebook that I would recommend even if you didn't have to buy it.

No full-text cases with bogged down information, easy-to-read rules, and great examples that give the reader a step-by-step, helpful introduction to the FRE. It ties into other bar subjects well and explains policy considerations without going off on tangents. Every evidence class should use this book!

Caleb Maddix has knocked this one out of the park. Chapters are relevant and inspirational not only to kids, but to adults as well. This book will challenge you and have you asking yourself the question, "What was I doing when I was 13?" Caleb is wise beyond his years and this book will be a great addition to your library.

A must have book for your kids!!

I want to first give prompts to Caleb Maddox. He is 13-years old and when I read this book it gave me hope for the generations of kids to come!!

I have a 6year old son and bought this book to help my son be successful in his future. Little did I know that this book has me want to make sure I GRIND toed my goals in my life too! I am excited to share this book with my son and make this book more than pages but a life altering device.

The tips and suggestions in this will definitely put yourself on your way to success. It can be health or even personal growth.

Another thing I love about this book is that a lot of people are scared of super big books. This book is a good quick read but extremely packed with wealth of knowledge. I can definitely see any kid finishing this book and not being bored.

At 13 years old, this young man has so much wisdom, passion, and authenticity! His personal stories and tangible examples make it easy for both kids and adults to understand and apply the keys to being successful. I bought this for my son and decided to read it and will definitely continue to apply the keys to my life. In reading this book, I am inspired by how much one person, action, etc. can make a difference and would strongly recommend it to anyone as well as will be buying more to share with my friends. This book is a great gift item and a must read for every kid. I look forward to reading his next book - Extreme Teens!

Perfect

Reading a really good book is bittersweet because it is so satisfying to have the perfect story close with the perfect ending, but then you realize you're done and there's no more to read. I felt that coming on the whole way through this book. I have been eagerly waiting for Lennon's story and this greatly exceeded the high expectations I had for it. I never saw this story coming. Most times, there are little things about characters that show their imperfections and make them more human, but this book showed Lennon's and Haylee's imperfections and they just made them all the more perfect. They're both damaged souls who are running on fumes, but they give each other a little extra kick. It's nothing immediate and annoyingly miraculous like I've read many times in books. There is a beautiful, perfect story here without the perfect cheesiness that you usually find with a wounded character. I am so bummed that I'm done reading this book. Absolutely the best one of the Ransom series.

Another Awesome Ransom Story

Rachel Shurig is one of my favorite authors. I have read all of her books including the entire Ransom series. I have been waiting for Lennon's book for a while and I was not disappointed at all. I loved this book. Lennon and Haylee are great together. They both have their issues but work so well together to help each other. It was great to see Lennon come out of his shell and get to know him better after seeing him in all the other books. I loved how we caught up with the other brothers and Levi as well and loved how the characters evolved and changed throughout the story. I laughed and cried throughout the book. There were a few surprises and meeting Daisy and Daultry's baby was just the icing on the cake. I hope there will be other Ransom books that check in on everyone or give more stories about the new band that has entered the picture from this story. I can't wait for Rachel's next book.

Another winner for Rachel Schurig

I am a long time fan of Rachel Schurig and love reading what the Ransome boys have been up to! This is the 5th in the series and whilst it helps if you've read the others (character backgrounds and who everyone is!) it's not vital.
This is Lennon's story. The quiet one in the band. The one that has real problems which Rachel addresses beautifully and sensitively. As a romantic novel, there is of course a love interest (the wild yet fragile Haylee) but Rachel always has twists and complexity to her characters that you don't expect.
I was lucky enough to receive this copy as an ARC but have posted multiple reviews across all of Rachel's work. I can't wait to see what the Ransome boys get up to next!! (and if you're after more suggestions, try the Three Girls or Lovestruck series - again, great characters across multiple books!)
