Since then he has worked in tech support, network administration, consulting, training, web development, and project management. During his career, he has achieved certifications from CompTIA (including A+), Microsoft, Cisco, Novell, and Sun Microsystems. He is the author of several books. Emmett Dulaney, A+, Network+, Security+, MCT, is an assistant professor who has written several certification books on Windows, Security, IT project management, and UNIX. He is also a well-known certification columnist for Certification Magazine and Campus Technology. Toby Skandier, A+, Network+, i-Net+, Server+, is founder of Talskan Technologies, LLC, a technical education provider.

Not For People New to A+ or Computer Repair and Networking

Getting this review out to those who are looking now before the Deluxe Edition is released for Sale and is currently in Pre Order Status. If you have never done the A+ before and if you have not studied Computer Engineering Technology or Computer Science or have taken Instructor led certification training, please wait for the Deluxe Edition. I have used the Deluxe Editions for Previous versions of A+, very helpful.This book delivers extremely concentrated content written on a college level with advanced terminology starting right away in the first few pages of the first chapter; and going forward throughout the book. Here is an example: in PCIE discussion star topology is referenced, without explanation of what a star topology is in reference to discussing bus architecture. The name Sandy Bridge is used when discussing chip sets and processors, without explaining what this Intel Code Name represents. This is not a complaint, just two examples as to why this is not a good book for those new to the subject matter covered in A+. This book disseminates information in a very concentrated and sophisticated manner. I am literally studying every paragraph thoroughly and learning and seeing a lot of new information. I really do like this book. It is good for instructor led training, experienced technicians, and those who have already had some formal training on the subject. I am still reading this, but I had to get this review out to help those who are currently looking at the 900 series in January before the other books have been released for sale.

Highly Detailed but Convoluted

I am currently studying for 901 and 902. This book has lots of details but lacks organization. There is clearly a lack of tables. The author is a bit convoluted because he uses complicated sentences to describe topics. He does not provide clear and simple definitions for many terms. I have to use the internet to search for definitions. I have compared this book with Daril Gibson's book and the Microsoft Press book is much clearer in providing better diagrams and tables to summarize lots of facts. This book is up to date for the 901 and 902 but it could use better and clearer writing. I am currently creating an outline making up questions and answers from this book. I find it very slow and laborious to read the author's content. Sometimes, I can't find even a definition. If you do not know the material, you would find it a difficult and boring book to read. I consider this to be the best in terms of being the latest update and having the most information to prepare for test.d
